Our school features:

Academic Programming

K-6 Green STEM Program

  • Our Mission: Our Green STEM program is dedicated to cultivating critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and academic excellence while fostering a deep respect for God’s creation. Rooted in Pope Francis’ Laudato Si, we integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through an environmental lens to prepare students as global leaders and environmental stewards. Through inquiry-based learning and authentic projects, students develop STEM literacy, social responsibility, and a growth mindset to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.

Our Programming – Green STEM Features

  • Hands-on, transdisciplinary learning that connects classroom concepts to real-world challenges.
  • Focus on sustainability through projects in agriculture and environmental stewardship.
  • Integration of STEM disciplines: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in authentic contexts.
  • Enhanced leadership experiences for Grades 4–6 students not enrolled in sports academies, including:
    • Working in indoor and outdoor greenhouses.
    • Growing plants in Grow Towers and a dedicated Plant Room.
    • Building and testing innovations in the Maker Lab.
    • Leading social justice initiatives that promote stewardship and community impact.
  • Opportunities to design, build, and innovate while developing critical thinking, creativity, and leadership skills.
  • A program that prepares students to care for creation and shape a sustainable future.

Sports Academies

Soccer Grade 3-6

  • The Mount Carmel Soccer Academy offers students in Grades 3–6 a unique opportunity to combine academic excellence with high-level soccer training during the school day. Our program emphasizes technical skill development, physical fitness, and tactical understanding through Canada Soccer and FIFA’s Preferred Training Model. Students train in an age-appropriate, engaging environment that fosters passion for the game while building character, leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills. With on-field sessions, strength and conditioning, health and wellness instruction, and team-building activities, the academy prepares student-athletes to excel both on and off the field in a competitive, supportive setting.

Hockey Grade 3-6

  • The Mount Carmel Hockey Academy offers students in Grades 3–6 an exceptional opportunity to combine academics with elite hockey training during the school day. Guided by our motto “Heads, Hands, & Hearts,” the program focuses on developing the whole student—intelligence and decision-making, technical skill, and character rooted in teamwork and respect. Students participate in structured on-ice sessions built around monthly skill themes, complemented by off-ice training in strength, agility, and wellness. With access to professional coaching, synthetic ice, fitness facilities, and leadership activities, the academy fosters discipline, resilience, and a passion for the game while preparing student-athletes to excel both on and off the ice.

Elite Athletes Grade 4-6

  • Our Elite Athlete Program is designed for students who train and compete at provincial, national, or international levels in sports such as tennis, swimming, dance, figure skating, gymnastics, and more. This program provides the flexibility for high-performance athletes to pursue rigorous training schedules while attending part-time school. Students benefit from robust learning in our Green STEM program and complete core curriculum subjects—Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Religion. Families coordinate transportation, and athletes train off-site with their respective organizations; the school does not manage or conduct training. This unique schedule ensures academic excellence and athletic development go hand in hand. Contact the school for more information.

Shadow Days are available in Soccer and Hockey Programs for students in Grades 2-5. Contact 8205web@ecsd.net or 780-433-1062 to book today!
